FASHION

In Buenos Aires, since 2001, is held twice a year the most important fashion event in Argentina, the Buenos Aires Fashion Week

The city also held the Argentina Fashion Week and Buenos Aires Moda event 

The city boasts the Metropolitan Design Center.


Benito Fernandez was born in May 27, 1960 in Buenos Aires 

He is one of the most important designers in the country


In 1985 he traveled to Paris where he got his degree in Fashion Design
in the Paris American Academy


Nowadays he is a benchmark of modernity, prints and color


POPULATION

The province of Buenos Aires has 15,625,084 people, or 38.9% of the total population.

There are 14,450 inhabitants per square kilometer. 
In the province, there are 105 women for every 100 men

The foreign population of the province is 941,941 census. 
40% of the local population was not born in the city.

It is one of the largest universities in Argentina and is considered as one of the most prestigious research centers in Latin America. You are currently Ranked 209 in the world rankings of the best universities and third in South America.



Four of the five Argentine Nobel Prize winners have been students and teachers of this University. 



About 30% of the country's scientific research is done in this institution

MUSIC:


Buenos  Aires  is  mostly  known  by  the  Tango,  which  developed  in the  city. But  Folk, Pop, Rock  and  Classical  Music  are also poular.  Buenos  Aires  is  the  capital  of  a  musical  movement  named "La  Nueva Cancion" led  by  Mercedes Sosa.

Argentina  is  the  first  latin  american  country  that  had  an  own  rock  current,  that  was led by  groups like "Los Fabulosos Cadillac" or  singers  like  Fito Paez.This genre has  a  big  influence  from british  rock. The  movement  of  argentine  rock  began  in  1960 but  just  in 90  decade became popular  as  a  consequence of  fame  that  groups  as  Soda  Estereo  had.

Nowadays Electronic Music had  a  big  influence  in the  city  and gave  rise  to  a  new  movement  that  mix the  tango  and  electronic  music  named  "Electrotango". This  movement born  in 2007 and  the most  famous  group is  Gottan Project.

The World Tango Championship is an international competition in which the tango dancers all over the world compete for the best tango dancer.
600 million people attend to this event.
it´s the biggest event in years.



CITY PROBLEMS

The growth of slums in Buenos Aires came from the international crisis of 1930 and peaked in 2001 due to internal crises in Argentina

Pollution of River Plate is one of the major health problems of the city


According to a study published by the IDB, Buenos Aires is among the cities with the worst quality of life offered in terms of public green space per inhabitant.


The city of Buenos Aires borders one of the most polluted rivers on the planet, the Riachuelo river.


In terms of mobility, education and hospital care, Buenos Aires is a very stable and well developed city. 
Buenos Aires has 34 free clinics and 90% of consultations in the public system are made in these establishments. The public health system in the city provides coverage to 21.9%

Urban Art

Urban art.

In Buenos Aires is very important and respect the urban art, for the way in which their artist use it as a way of freedom and fun.
Since 2010, Street Art BA or SABA promotes and encourages the creation of art in any of it´s techniques (graffiti, stencil, sticker, etc.)in public spaces.
They art supported in the artist and in the effervescent, interested and passioned pucblic,that use this kind of art.

SABA wants to make this activity completaly legal witht the intention of make bautyful and recyclable the city with street art.
